ACE “Beach City Baby” Heavyweight T-Shirt

A meeting of aviation history, vintage nose-art style, and modern ACE character.

This heavyweight garment-dyed T-shirt features the “Beach City Baby” Douglas C-53 Skytrooper artwork in the bold golden-yellow, deep navy, and weathered military-inspired palette of the ACE collection. The substantial 100% ring-spun cotton fabric has a soft, broken-in feel, while the relaxed unisex cut makes it an easy everyday piece for aviation enthusiasts and lovers of classic heritage design.

The aircraft represented in the artwork is Douglas C-53 Skytrooper serial 41-20095, accepted by the U.S. Army in January 1942. The C-53 was a military transport developed from the Douglas DC-3 and was designed primarily to carry personnel and support wartime transport operations. Serial 41-20095 served during the Second World War and was later rediscovered in Beach City, Ohio, inspiring its modern name, “Beach City Baby.” Vintage Wings Inc. acquired the aircraft in 2017 and has worked to preserve and return it to its historic military configuration.

The name “Beach City Baby” is part of the aircraft’s modern preservation story rather than a documented wartime nickname, making the design a celebration of both its Second World War service and its remarkable survival.
